Warish Application 2026: Apply for Legal Heir online
When a landowner passes away, their property needs to be legally transferred to their heirs. In West Bengal, this is known as the Warish Application (or Mutation by Succession). It used to be a tedious offline process, but now you can do it almost entirely online through the BanglarBhumi portal.
I know dealing with legal paperwork after a family loss is tough, so I've broken down this process into simple, manageable steps for you.
Step-by-Step Application Process
1. Login & Select Service
Log in to the BanglarBhumi portal. Go to "Citizen Services" > "Online Application" and select "Warish Application".
2. Enter Plot Details
Select the District, Block, and Mouza. Enter the Khatian Number of the deceased person (Ancestor) to fetch their land records.
3. Ancestor Details
Provide the Date of Death. You MUST upload the Death Certificate and Legal Heir Certificate (issued by Panchayat/Council) as one PDF (max 2MB).
4. Add Successors
Enter details for EACH heir (Successor): Name, Aadhaar, Mobile, and share of property. If an heir already has a Khatian in the same Mouza, select 'Yes' to merge.
5. Submit & Track
Once all heirs are added, submit the form. You will get an Application Number. Keep this safe to track your status later.
Important Documents Required
Before you sit down to apply, make sure you have scans of these documents ready on your computer or phone. They should be in PDF format and under 2MB size.
- Death Certificate: The official certificate of the deceased landowner.
- Legal Heir Certificate: A certificate issued by the Pradhan, Councilor, or Court listing all valid heirs.
- Aadhaar Card: For all the successors (heirs) being added.
- Photo ID: A clear photo ID of the applicant.
Pro Tip: If there are multiple heirs, make sure you add ALL of them in a single application. Missing an heir now can cause legal headaches later during partition.
